According to sources, American defensive lineman Casey Sayles has agreed to a contract extension with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats that will last through the 2025 campaign.

In 17 games for the Ticats in 2023, the 28-year-old recorded 50 tackles and seven sacks, earning $188,500 and, for the first season in his career, CFL all-star recognition.

With the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the six-foot-four, 282-pound player started 18 games at defensive lineman in 2022 and recorded 36 tackles, six sacks, and two forced fumbles. In 2021, as a rookie in a three-down league, he recorded 28 tackles and five sacks.

The Omaha, Nebraska native went unselected in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Ohio University. He had stints with the Los Angeles Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers, AAF, and XFL prior to signing with Winnipeg for the 2021 season.

Sayles recorded 110 total tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, six knockdowns, and three fumble recoveries over four seasons with the Bobcats from 2013 to 2016.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have been competitive for the past three seasons, but they haven’t been able to break through to the promised land. They now have a decision to make.
