Week 17 rookies’ efforts are highlighted by Deuce Vaughn and Brandon Aubrey.
The Cowboys‘ rookie class enjoyed a relatively quiet evening on Saturday as Dallas defeated the Lions 20–19.
With a catch and two quick runs, Deuce Vaughn was the only player who wasn’t a kicker to appear on the stat sheet. T.J. Bass performed admirably in relief on the attacking line.
Even as he approaches yet another NFL record, Brandon Aubrey kept up his record-breaking season.
But for the top two Michigan picks, it was just another lackluster performance in a disappointing draft class.
Mazi Smith (Defensive Tackle, First Round, Michigan)
It was Smith’s third start of the year. However, in terms of total snaps on Saturday, he quickly dropped to fourth place out of the four defensive tackles.

Smith’s rookie season has been disappointing overall, as he only played 16 defensive snaps and 7 special team snaps.
He didn’t have any official stats during the Lions victory.
Luke Schoonmaker (Michigan, Tight End, 2nd Round)
Schoonmaker has fallen to the bottom of his position’s room, just like his fellow Wolverine.
Schoonmaker had 17 offensive snaps, ranking third among tight ends. On special teams, he had an additional 13.
He didn’t have any official stats in the game, just like Smith.
DeMarvion Overshown (Texas, third round, linebacker)
Overshown is still recovering from a knee injury he sustained in Seattle during the preseason.
