INDIANAPOLIS: Superstar Iowa women’s basketball player Caitlin Clark said that she felt “the weight of the world” lift off her shoulders when she submitted her post on social media on Thursday afternoon.
In addition to sending love to her teammates and family and thanking Hawkeyes fans for their steadfast support over the previous four years at Iowa, the post made it clear that the player intended to declare for the 2024 WNBA draft.
The WNBA decision was made after Caitlin Clark said, “Getting the weight of the world off my shoulders.”

In addition to sending love to her teammates and family and thanking Hawkeyes fans for their steadfast support over the previous four years at Iowa, the post made it clear that the player intended to declare for the 2024 WNBA draft.
Three days prior to Iowa’s senior day matchup with Ohio State on Sunday afternoon, which is expected to be a sell-out event with ESPN’s “College Gameday” in town, she announced her decision.
Clark discussed her options with her family and the Iowa coaching staff over the season, trying to figure out which would be best for her: staying at Iowa or going pro.
Iowa assistant head coach Jan Jensen said, “We discussed the advantages and disadvantages, and obviously everyone wants her to come back that’s an Iowa fan,” in an interview with Owen Siebring of Iowa News Now. “She’s been under a lot of strain, and the new frontiers… Caitlin is fortunate to have an amazing support system of family members and friends surrounding her.
