Gardner Minshew Shares the Secrets to the Colts’ Win Against the Texans
Few predicted the Indianapolis Colts would make the playoffs before the season started.
But as we approach the last week of the regular season, that is precisely where this team is. The Colts are in a win-and-in scenario in Week 18 against the Houston Texans following their victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. The Colts can make the playoffs for the first time since 2020 if they win; if they lose, they will play their remaining games at home.
Gardner Minshew’s play is a big part of the reason the Colts are in this situation at all. When rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson had season-ending shoulder surgery in Week 5, the seasoned quarterback took over as the starting quarterback. Since Minshew took over as the starting quarterback, the Colts have a 7-5 record because he has kept the offense afloat while Richardson is out.
What then does Minshew believe the Colts should do on Saturday night in order to win?
We need to have our best preparation week this week, as Shane (Steichen) so eloquently stated, Minshew stated on Tuesday. One thing, in my opinion, is that when we prepare properly, we perform properly when we go out and perform. Everyone seems to be focused on what needs to be done and eager about it, in my opinion.
The Colts had an embarrassing loss to the Atlanta Falcons, but they responded spectacularly against the Raiders. Against the Falcons, the offense managed just 262 total yards and 10 points. The performance on Sunday was much better, totaling 349 yards and scoring 23 points.
