The Michigan Wolverines‘ head coach has been suspended due to a misunderstanding, which is shocking news for the brave fans.

The tone in Ann Arbor was about what any Michigan Wolverine fan would expect following another suspension for head football coach Jim Harbaugh.

This time, the Big Ten decided to throw the hammer down on Harbaugh despite the fact that an NCAA sign-stealing investigation was still ongoing.

Jeff Hughey, who attended his first Wolverine football game in 1991, thinks the sign-stealing controversy merely tarnishes Michigan’s otherwise outstanding season.

“It kind of stains what they’ve done this year. They have a very good team. Hughey says, “I don’t think they needed to steal signs, if they did.”

Emma Workman, a senior at the University of Michigan, says the suspension didn’t surprise her.

“It was coming, so I’m not shocked, but we are a little worried about Penn State tomorrow [Nov. 11],” Workman said.

Ryan Christ, a Penn State fan, says he came to town to visit his sister, a University of Michigan student, but is departing with a smile on his face.

“Harbaugh is a good coach, so I am happy he is not going to be there tomorrow,” he remarked.

However, when the school requested an order to temporarily relieve Harbaugh’s ban, that may not be the case come Saturday’s game against Penn State.

Regardless, most fans were astonished by the timing of the suspension. Even Joe Freeman, an Ohio State alum and current University of Michigan graduate student, says it caught him off guard.

“I thought it was going to be after the season was over when they came down with the punishment, so it’s pretty surprising to me,” Freeman said.

While it appears that practically everyone has an opinion on the Michigan sign-stealing issue, Wolverine fan Benson Quinn says he doesn’t want to hear it.

“They like to bring you down while you’re on top. “It’s getting lonely up here,” Quinn admits.

Despite the disappointment of the majority of Michigan football supporters following the Big Ten’s decision to suspend Harbaugh for the rest of the regular season, many tell CBS Detroit they are confident the Wolverines will win on Saturday, with or without him on the sidelines.
