Due to his wife, A very loyal New York Mets player has announced his sudden retirement, sending a powerful statement and bidding the team and supporters

A former reliever for the New York Mets has announced his retirement from baseball, citing a desire to end his career on his own terms and his interest in non-baseball activities.

After a disastrous 2023 season that saw their club with the most salary in the league miss the playoffs and finish below.500, the New York Mets will be trying to rebuild their roster.

Under new President of Baseball Operations David Stearns, it appears that they will be focusing more on a youth movement than on the free agency market, as they have done the last two offseasons.

Trevor May announced his retirement on Twitch on Monday, putting whatever hope the Mets had of getting back together with one of their former relief pitchers to rest.

“I have a thousand things that I want to do, a million things… everything that I do outside of the game has just lit me up, and I really enjoy doing it,” he stated. “I just want to go out on my own terms.”

In 2020, the 34-year-old inked a two-year deal with New York, where he developed into one of the team’s best relievers.

In 2021, May made a career-high 68 appearances and finished with a 7-3 record and 3.59 ERA. In 62 2/3 innings, he struck out 83 hitters while recording four saves.
