Sad report: Brian Daboll shed tears as New York Giants introduced new coach to the team

There won’t be a second NFL Coach of the Year for Brian Daboll.

Although Daboll’s first season as the New York Giants’ head coach was fantastic, things aren’t going well in his second season. Giants record: 2–6. He was forced to start with his third-string quarterback on Sunday, among other uncontrollable circumstances, but he made a crucial choice that backfired and caused the New York Jets to lose.

In the last 1:26 of regulation, the Giants completely collapsed. They took over at the Jets’ 26-yard line at that point. When you are up three points, your opponent is down two timeouts, and you have first-and-10 at their 26-yard line, it’s almost difficult to lose. In that instance, the Giants were unable to win.

With 28 seconds remaining, the Giants called a timeout on a fourth-and-1. The Giants decided to try for a field goal instead of going for it. Graham Gano missed from 35 yards out due to poor weather. It was a dubious choice, but you have to pray your kicker won’t miss a 35-yard field goal.
Daboll stated that he intended for the Jets to score a touchdown and grab a six-point lead. Up until then, the Jets offense had done virtually little. However, following the missed field goal, the Jets connected on two 29-yard passes, stole the ball with a second remaining, and kicked the game-winning field goal. In overtime, the Jets prevailed.
