Dexter Lawrence has officially announced terminating his contract due to the serious misunderstanding with the head…

A person with knowledge of the agreement claims that defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence and the New York Giants have reached an agreement on a four-year, $90 million contract extension.

The source, who spoke to The Associated Press under the condition of anonymity because the Giants had not yet made the extension official, said that Lawrence, who had not taken part in the team’s optional summer exercises while awaiting the deal, consented to the enormous contract on Thursday.

With an average salary of $22.5 million annually, Lawrence’s contract ties him with Washington’s Daron Payne as the third-highest defensive lineman in the league, behind only Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams ($31.7 million annually) and Jeffery Simmons of Tennessee ($23.5 million annually).

Lawrence enjoyed a breakout season with a career-high 7 1/2 sacks, and the Giants exercised the fifth-year option on his rookie deal last offseason. He made his debut in the Pro Bowl and was chosen for the second team All-Pro.

The Giants selected Lawrence with the 17th overall pick in 2019 out of Clemson. In four seasons, he has amassed 16 1/2 career sacks, 58 quarterback hits, 21 tackles for loss, and four forced fumbles.
