Shocking news: A crucial player who agreed to sign a five-year deal with the New York Knicks is finally…
This year won’t see Taj Gibson and the New York Knicks reunited, if he is returning.
Gibson, who joined the team earlier this month on a 10-day contract, is expected to sign with the Detroit Pistons for the duration of the 2023–24 season, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
After playing for the Knicks in blue and orange for the first three seasons of Tom Thibodeau’s tenure, the 38-year-old Brooklyn native participated in 16 games this season (1 start). The Knicks have been thinking about Gibson a lot since some have suggested that he could become an assistant coach in the future. The maximum number of 10-day contracts a player can sign with one team in a season is two, which he already signed with the Knicks.
On Thursday, the New York Knicks revealed that Mamadi Diakite and DaQuan Jeffries had signed 10-day contracts.
Over the previous two years, Jeffries has come in and out of the Knicks’ system. Earlier this season, he played in 13 games with the NBA team. Jeffries spent the majority of his time on the G League, where he is averaging 22 points and 5.9 rebounds in 14 regular season games with Westchester. In that time, he played just under three minutes a game and averaged 0.8 points and 0.4 rebounds.
