After being listed as not for sale, Cincinnati Bengals great and formidable player has finally been sold for an incredible sum of money—billions of dollars.
Wide receiver Tee Higgins of the Cincinnati Bengals has reportedly asked to be traded by the organization, indicating possible turmoil prior to the NFL’s free agency season.
Adam Schefter of ESPN has been informed by sources that Higgins, a vital member of the Bengals, is disappointed that there haven’t been any talks on a long-term contract extension since March 2024.
Higgins reportedly expressed his affection for Cincinnati and his desire for a long-term relationship with the organization, but he was upset that no talks had taken place.
Higgins’ future with the Bengals is unclear, as he recently finished the last year of his rookie deal. There appears to be a big gap in striking a long-term agreement before the July 15 deadline, even if the team applied for the $21.8 million one-year franchise tag for the upcoming season.
Sources state that there was little movement on a possible contract renewal even before the 2023 season started and that negotiations apparently came to an impasse in March of that year. Higgins had his lowest-performing season since being drafted in 2020 due to injuries last season. The wide receiver caught 42 passes for 656 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games.
During the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis, Bengals director of player personnel Duke Tobin stated that the team’s intention is to keep Higgins for at least another season. The latest information, though, indicates that a possible deal is now on the table. The team is clearly aware of Higgins’ significance and is open to making a trade this offseason.
This is the second year in a row that a key member of the Bengals has requested a trade, the first being offensive tackle Jonah Williams’ request in March 2023, which the organization eventually declined.
