Due to his wife, A very loyal Pittsburgh Pirates player has announced his sudden retirement, sending a powerful statement and bidding the team and supporters

More than a year after being mauled by a rabid raccoon, Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Travis Swaggerty disclosed on Wednesday that his wife was diagnosed with a blood disorder that is “extremely rare” and “painful”.

The Pirates Triple-A affiliate, the Indianapolis Indians, are Swaggerty’s team. He sent a lengthy message on Twitter requesting “support and prayers” for his wife, Peyton Swaggerty, while she continues treatment for her illness.

My wife Peyton is going to the Mayo Clinic tomorrow, along with Sutton, her parents, and grandmother. She was attacked by a rabid raccoon more than a year ago, and since then, many theories and medications have been thrown at her.

It has utterly destroyed her quality of life and left her with a ton of unsolved issues and agony. I wanted to post this to remind everyone to appreciate everything in life, even the small things, and to ask for prayers and support for her. She has always had unwavering faith and confidence in God. If you feel moved to do so, kindly spend some time in prayer for her, asking the doctors to provide her with some consolation and, in the end, a cure.”
