Joao Cancelo, a defender for Manchester City who is now on loan at Barcelona, has expressed his thoughts about his future.

Joao Cancelo, a Manchester City loanee, has been candid about his future, stating that he would really like to stay at Barcelona beyond the current campaign.

The defender has stated his wish to stay at Camp Nou after leaving the Etihad on loan to join the LaLiga powerhouses.

“I was fortunate enough to play for only big teams,” Cancelo remarked in an interview with the Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport. I am happy with my profession because I have never received any gifts. I have overcome all obstacles by making sacrifices.

“Although I have no idea what the future holds, I would want to remain here. I grew up following Barcelona under Ronaldinho. He is my hero. I take great pride in donning this jersey, and I understand that I cannot join any other clubs?”

The Citizens are expected to ask for a transfer fee of about £25 million in exchange for Cancelo’s services, according to Spanish publication SPORT. Cancelo might be sold permanently in the summer, according to the most recent sources, but a deal as little as £13 million may be reached.

Cancelo, who is estimated by TransferMarkt to be worth £34 million, is scheduled to return to Manchester City in the summer after finishing his loan in Barcelona. His contract with Manchester City runs until 2027.

This season, the 29-year-old has been a consistent starter for Barcelona. He might play on Wednesday when the team plays the second leg of their round of 16 Champions League match against Napoli.
