Tampa Bay Lightning left winger Gordie Dwyer has been suspended three times automatically, for a total of twenty-three games, following a confrontation with on-ice officials during a preseason game.

On September 19, Dwyer got into a brawl with Joe Murphy and Joe Reekie of the Washington Capitals during the third period of the Lightning’s preseason game. Dwyer struck linesman David Brisebois with physical force during the altercation.

Dwyer started fighting with Reekie once again and dragged referee Mark Faucette into the floor after being carried to the punishment box. He then opened the door and skated back onto the ice.

Dwyer received two minor penalties for roughing and charging after the incident, along with three game-misconduct penalties and a 10-minute misconduct punishment.
