Steelers has finally reached agreement to sign another top player from the Broncos.
With a Super Bowl winner at quarterback, the Steelers are starting over.
On Sunday night, Russell Wilson and the Steelers agreed to a contract. It’s reportedly a one-year contract worth the $1.2 million league minimum.
The remaining $37.8 million in Wilson’s contract will be covered by the Denver Broncos, who told Wilson last week that he will be released.
Kenny Pickett, who was selected by the Steelers in the first round of the 2022 draft, will no longer be the starting lineup, at least for the time being.
Wilson experienced difficulties while in Denver, but he recently produced consecutive 4,000-yard passing seasons in 2020 and 2019 with Seattle.
The 35-year-old veteran will now try to lead the Steelers, who placed 25th in the league in passing the previous season, to greater heights and a resurgence in title contention.
Tee Higgins of the Cincinnati Bengals wants to be traded
With Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins returning, it appeared as though the Bengals would have their lethal wide receiver tandem back, but things moved more slowly than expected.
According to reports, Higgins has asked to be traded since negotiations for a new contract have apparently stalled since the Bengals applied the franchise tag to him last week.
According to sources, Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins has asked to be traded. Higgins is upset that the organization has not held conversations regarding a long-term contract extension since March 2023, even though he loves Cincinnati and hoped to play for the team for a very long time. He’s eager to start a new one.
The Browns signed wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, a former Bronco, while the Bengals might lose one.
As he approaches the last year of his rookie deal, Jeudy is supposedly owed around $13 million this year. In return, Cleveland forfeited fifth- and sixth-round selections in 2024.
In his final season in Denver, Jeudy caught 54 passes for 758 yards and two touchdowns.
Although the 2020 first-round selection hasn’t yet reached his peak, the Browns are placing their money on Deshaun Watson and Amari Cooper, two more Alabama products who Jeudy has long admired, to trigger it.
“Now, Cooper, 29, will have a new No. 2 receiver beside him in Jeudy, 24, who the Browns are hoping can still eventually develop into the No. 1 receiver himself despite the up-and-down tenure in Denver,” wrote Jake Trotter of ESPN.
“In the meantime, Jeudy should give the Browns the legitimate deep threat they’ve been craving for quarterback Deshaun Watson, who can and wants to throw the ball deep.”
