Within 24 hours following his State of the Union address, Biden raises $13.3 million.

WASHINGTON After a contentious State of the Union address on Sunday, March 10, in which he accused Donald Trump of undermining democracy and sabotaging a bill intended to solve US immigration issues, President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign reported on Sunday, March 10, that it had raised US$10 million (S$13.3 million) in only one day.

In addition, Biden accused Trump, his Republican opponent on November 5, of hiding the truth about the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, and caving in to Russian President Vladimir Putin during a 68-minute speech to Congress on Thursday.

Given that the Biden campaign and its Democratic Party supporters raised more than US$42 million in January, the fundraising total is noteworthy.

According to Nielsen statistics from 14 television networks, 32.2 million people watched Biden’s State of the Union address, an increase of 18% from the previous year. Viewers on social media, streaming, and other channels were not included in this.

Using its financial advantage, the Biden team unveiled a US$30 million advertising campaign on Saturday that will focus on important battleground states over the course of the next six weeks.

A February Reuters/Ipsos poll revealed that Biden and Trump are still tied for the presidency, with 34% of respondents supporting Biden and 37% supporting the former president.
