Carlos Mendoza hasn’t made the trip by himself.

The Mets promptly selected Mendoza, a former Yankee bench coach, as their new manager after losing out on Craig Counsell.

Mendoza profusely thanked his wife, Francis, for giving up her career and life in their native Venezuela to support his baseball endeavors during his inaugural press conference on Tuesday at Citi Field.

Mendoza said, “You gave up everything in life.”

“This conversation we had was, ‘Are you sure you want to do this?'” You abandoned your dental practice in Venezuela.

And now, Francis, here we are. I am so excited for this new chapter in our lives because I love you so much.

I appreciate your support and your ability to comprehend your father’s prolonged absence from home. Mendoza stated, “One thing I’m going to tell you is that you’re coming home now, to New York.”

Now that he is manager of Citi Field, he said his sons have asked him if they will be able to practice on the field. He replied, “The answer to that is yes — you’re coming with me, and you’re gonna get to spend some time in practice as well.”
