Sad News: Colts’ tight end Drew Ogletree is detained on charges of domestic abuse.
Late on Friday, it was reported (via WTHR13) that Indianapolis Colts tight end Drew Ogletree had been placed under arrest on charges of domestic battery.
Avon Police officers were called to a residence on December 26 “regarding a physical domestic between an adult male and an adult female,” a police department spokesman said.
“A female victim was discovered on the scene and was taken right away to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment of her injuries,” the spokesperson stated.
“An arrest warrant was issued for one count of felony domestic battery committed in the presence of a child under the age of sixteen and one count of felony domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, the spokesperson said. Officers filed an affidavit of probable cause in Hendricks County.”
“On Friday afternoon, Ogletree, 25, surrendered himself to the Hendricks County Jail. According to court documents, he was being held without bond on Friday night.
Given the physical and violent nature of the charges, this is obviously unsettling news to hear in the early hours of the weekend.
An official statement from the Indianapolis Colts was made public (via The Athletic):
“We are cognizant of the unsettling claims concerning Drew Ogletree,” the Colts declared in a statement on Friday. “The group considers these issues seriously. The NFL has been informed, and we are currently obtaining additional details. We won’t be making any more comments at this time.
This season, the second-year tight end for the Colts has made nine receptions for 147 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions in 12 games (9 starts) after missing his entire rookie season due to a torn ACL sustained during 2022 training camp. With an overall grade of +80.1, he currently stands as PFF’s third-best pass-blocking tight end.
