Update on suspension: Birmingham Stallions’ head coach has been suspended…

The Birmingham Stallions have enjoyed a terrific season by all accounts. Still, things didn’t go smoothly at first. The Stallions lost seven starters and important players to injury after USFL Week 1.

But every time a man fell, it created a chance for someone else to rise. For instance, the Stallions were devastated to lose starting quarterback J’Mar Smith, but McGough’s injury made room for Alex McGough to enter the game and have a breakout season worthy of an MVP.

Linebacker Scooby Wright was another guy the Stallions were sorry to lose. But Quentin Poling became a star as a result of Wright’s injuries.

Quentin Poling’s Achievements
Poling was seated behind Wright and DeMarquis Gates when he was a member of the Stallions last season, thus he did not frequently see the field. This year Poling was involved early in the season, but after Wright was injured, he became much more important. He has really made the most of it.

Poling leads the team in tackles (43), is tied for the most with six tackles for loss, has three sacks (2.5), one interception (tied for most), one fumble recovery (tied for most), and one pass deflection through the ninth week of play. He is the only Stallions player to have received USFL Defensive Player of the Week twice this season. His accomplishment this past weekend is one illustration of that. He recorded an interception, a pass deflection, two tackles for loss, 0.5 sack, and 11 tackles (eight solo). Poling may have played more this year if he had  He might have a good chance of winning USFL Defensive Player of the Year.

This week, some regrettable news surfaced as the Stallions start getting ready for the postseason. The status of Quentin Poling has been changed to “Suspended List.” Poling done nothing wrong to be placed on the Suspended List, and I can attest that this is not for disciplinary purposes. Rather, players who must take a leave of absence from the squad due to personal reasons belong on the Suspended List. Poling is not on the team at the moment, even though he done nothing wrong and is not injured. However, he is still listed on the roster in case he is able to make a comeback in the future.
