After taking over the TCNJ softball program in 1996, Sally Miller led the team to its sixth NCAA Division III Championship in program history that season. TCNJ has been among the NCAA Division III’s most successful schools under Miller’s leadership.
By percentage and overall wins, Miller is one of Division III’s most successful active coaches. Her career record is 721-352-3, and she has a.671 victory percentage. She has guided the TCNJ program to six NJAC championships and fourteen NCAA berths during her tenure.
During a Conference doubleheader versus Kean in the 2023 season, Miller achieved her 700th career win. She is only the 11th active NCAA Division III Softball coach to accomplish so. Miller not only guided the team to their sixth NJAC title, but
Under Miller’s direction, TCNJ advanced to the NJAC title game and made it to the NCAA regionals once again in 2022. In the NCAA Tournament regional rounds, the Lions defeated Case Western in two nail-biting one-run thrillers while winning five all-conference and five all-region honors.
In the 2021 season, Miller guided TCNJ to a NJAC championship and a 26-5 record. For the Lions, it was their second consecutive conference title. Additionally, TCNJ participated in its third consecutive NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. The Lions made it to the regional final but lost to eventual national winner Virginia Wesleyan in a tough game that ended in a 6-5 loss. Miller received the NFCA East Region Coaching Staff of the Year award, which was her second consecutive year receiving this recognition.
