Breaking news: Rafael Nadal is expected to retire at the Laver Cup after withdrawing from the US Open.

Rafael Nadal, the four-time winner of the US Open, has stated that he will not be participating in the Grand Slam this year, but he is not planning to retire just yet.

Due to ailments that have continued to interfere with his career in its later phases, the 38-year-old has had to prioritize certain events. Due to an injury, Rafael Nadal withdrew from the Australian Open in January. He also withdrew from Wimbledon to concentrate on the Olympics, where he was defeated by Novak Djokovic in straight sets.

Fans had hoped that Nadal would play in the US Open, the year’s last Grand Slam, now that he was fully fit. He did, however, clarify on social media that he will not be in New York and that the Laver Cup in Berlin will be his next tennis match.

“Hi all, I am writing today to let you guys know that I have decided not to compete at this year’s US Open, a place where I have amazing memories,” Nadal posted to X. “While I will miss those intense and unique night sessions at Ashe in New York City, I don’t think I will be able to give it my all this time.
