The Metro Detriot Travels Softball Head Coach has announced his departure, which is sad news.
Marshall Foley, senior assistant athletic director, announced Connie Miner’s resignation as Oakland University’s softball coach on Monday. Over the previous five seasons, Miner guided the Golden Grizzlies to their first-ever Horizon League championship in 2015.
Resigning, Miner stated, “allows me to continue my private Connie Miner Softball School of Excellence and pursue other coaching opportunities.” “I’ll be able to be closer to my family and parents thanks to this.”
After winning both the regular season and tournament crowns in the Horizon League, Miner led the Golden Grizzlies to their third trip to the NCAA tournament in 2015. In addition to being voted Horizon League coach of the year, Miner’s 27 victories that season rank third in club history. Oakland’s record over Miner’s five seasons was 83-127-1 (.396).
Syracuse and Western Michigan have been announced for college football an agreement to start a home-and-home series in 2018. On September 1st of that year, Syracuse will visit Waldo Stadium, and on September 21st of 2019, the Broncos will visit the Carrier Dome. The series represents the schools’ initial encounters.The present coaching staff of the Broncos has a past; Tim Lester was the Orange’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2013 to 2015.
College golf: Brian Stuard, a graduate of Oakland University, finished second in the U.S. Open Sectional qualifying at Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Ohio, shooting nine under par (66-65) over 36 holes. On June 15–18, Stuard will participate in his third U.S. Open in Wisconsin’s Erin Hills.
