The catastrophic injury that slammed the Pittsburgh Panthers has left them confused.
Pittsburgh With all of their players back and healthy for the next football season, the Pitt Panthers have officially begun their fall camp.
Sixth-year offensive lineman Ryan Jacoby was one player that missed the whole 2023 campaign due to a season-ending knee injury sustained before the season began.
Pat Narduzzi, the head coach of Pitt, answered a query regarding Jacoby’s health going into the season. Narduzzi is eager to compete with fellow sixth-year offensive lineman Jason Collier Jr. for the left guard position and to see what he can accomplish this season.
Narduzzi commented, “He’s done a really nice job.” “As we speak, he and Collier are fighting for the left guard position. He’s somewhat, Our PT Rick [Joreitz] and our training room’s Chris Hanks have done an amazing job getting him back. While he wasn’t on the field, he was hitting bags and engaging in some one-on-one play, even against a few injured teammates, and they did an excellent job getting him back.
“Based on his current location, it appears that he was in this same spot a year ago at the end of camp. He has now sort of walked in there, and you’re thinking, “Oh!” Since he has been out for a year, you may have anticipated a longer recovery period, but they have done an excellent job bringing him back.”
Additionally, Narduzzi commended Jacoby for his mindset before the season and his ability to overcome a very challenging injury from the previous year.
“I’m sure there’s the story he showed and the story he didn’t show,” Narduzzi stated. Does he show his feelings by showing them off? Most likely not. We endeavor to maintain those guys’ unity, and I believe…He performed admirably. Ryan has remained secluded, and I believe this has led to where he is now.”
From Mentor High School in Mentor, Ohio, Jacoby made his commitment to Ohio State in the class of 2019. After that, he played for the club for two seasons; in 2019, he redshirted, and in 2020, he did not participate in any games.
Prior to the 2021 season, he transferred to Pitt, where he would play in the ACC Championship Game and the final three games of the campaign beginning in the Peach Bowl game against Michigan State as the sixth offensive lineman.
In 2022, Jacoby participated in all 13 games and made five starts, all at in-line tight end.
