A terrible injury has occurred: the Birmingbam stallions have sustained yet another wound.

Despite having a perfect 3-0 record to begin the season, the Birmingham Stallions have not abated their free agent activity. K Ramiz Ahmed, a former Pittsburgh Mauler, was signed by the Stallions. Given that kicker Chris Blewitt was listed on Tuesday’s injury report with a right quad issue, this signing isn’t as shocking.

Ramiz’s professional career includes stints with the Green Bay Packers and the USFL Maulers in 2022.

Ramiz was inconsistent with the Maulers, going 14/22 on field goals throughout his tenure. Just 7 out of 14 attempts were successful when made from a distance greater than 40 yards. Only seven out of ten of his extra points were converted, which was also unreliable.

But Ramiz Ahmed holds a record for the 2022 season in the USFL. His 61-yard field goal against the New Jersey Generals was the season’s longest.

Ramiz joined the Green Bay Packers practice squad following his USFL season to serve as Mason Crosby’s backup. In 2022, Ramiz was on the active roster twice, although he only participated in one game—handling kickoff responsibilities. He made six kickoffs and three touchbacks.

Given that there are still a lot of free agency kickers available who played in the previous season or attended the UFL camps in 2024, I think it’s interesting that the Stallions hired Ramiz after he had not played football professionally since the 2022 season. His strong leg undoubtedly contributed to his signing, considering the UFL’s kickoff regulations.

According to what we’ve been informed, Chris Blewitt should be back by week five, if he stays healthy for the full week.
However, for the to arrange. Fans of the Stallions should be relieved that their reliable kicker will be returning to play soon.
