Nine-time WNBA All-Star and WNBA Champion Brittney Griner has re-signed with the Phoenix Mercury, the team announced today.

Mercury General Manager Nick U’Ren stated, “BG has been a pillar of the Phoenix Mercury and Phoenix community for the past ten years, and we are excited that she will be with us as we build a team that can compete every night on both ends of the floor.” “We know she can help lead us this year and that what matters most to her is winning.”

Entering her 11th season, all with Phoenix, Griner is second only to Diana Taurasi, the league’s all-time leading scorer, in points (5,038) and rebounding (2,125) for the Mercury. She is one of the Top 25 Players of the WNBA for

Griner, the top pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft, played in nine of her ten seasons of postseason play, including two Finals appearances and six WNBA Semifinals. She also assisted in leading the Mercury to a 2014 WNBA Championship.

“Home is at Phoenix,” Griner remarked. “Over the past 11 years, the love and support my wife and I have received from the organization, the community, and X-Factor has meant the world to us. I am eager to carry on with my career while wearing a Mercury jersey and to try to return to the Valley with another championship.
