A blast of wind carried the bouncy house “approximately 15 to 20 feet up in the air,” according to Charles County officials, while a group of kids were inside. According to the news release, the kids inside the bouncy house tumbled before it landed on the field.
authorities said of the baseball team and spectators at the event.
The report said that one child had non-life-threatening injuries and was flown to the hospital, while the five-year-old boy was brought to a nearby children’s hospital where he was subsequently declared dead.
The incident led to the postponement of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs’ Saturday night game.
The team wrote on Facebook, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected families and the Southern Maryland community during this difficult time.”
