Terrible news ever: Ty Evans shed tears brutally as he heard about the…

Florida baseball defeated No. 5 Kentucky 10-1 on Saturday at Condron Family Ballpark, bouncing back from a painful setback on Friday.

However, the victory had a cost.

Starting right fielder Ty Evans of the Florida Gators (26-24, 11-15 SEC) suffered a broken wrist in the fifth inning after crashing into the padded fence down the right field line while chasing a foul ball.

Unfortunately, Florida coach Kevin O’Sullivan stated, “I believe he broke his wrist.” “Obviously it’s going to take some time, so it’s unfortunate.”Florida baseball loses starting RF Ty Evans to broken wrist in win over UK

Evans will probably miss the remainder of the season due to the injury. After hitting five home runs in the 2023 College World Series, Evans became a postseason hero and continued the trend into 2024.

With 13 home runs and 43 RBIs this season, Evans’ batting average is.316. In order to shield Florida two-way star Jac Caglianone, who was purposely walked three times on Saturday, he has been batting third as of late.

Dale Thomas, a third baseman for Florida, described it as “a dagger to the heart.” He’s among my closest pals. I seriously adore that child. He is both a rival and a victor. He gives the squad his all while he is on the field.”

Since Hayden Yost is now the starting center fielder, Florida may move Evans to right field and use center fielders Michael Robertson or Jaylen Guy in his place.

O’Sullivan declared, “Someone is going to have to step up.”

The offense was led by Luke Heyman, who hit two home runs on Saturday, and Cade Kurland, who finished the game with two hits, a double, and three RBIs. Junior Ryan Slater pitched three shutout innings to end the game and get his first save of the year. Freshman Liam Peterson (2-4) gave up one run over six innings to earn the victory.
