He should be dismissed because I can’t play on the same team as him any longer, said the head coach of the Penguins.

Pittsburgh The Pittsburgh Penguins will not be able to contend for the Stanley Cup for the second year in a row. The Washington Capitals secured the final Eastern Conference place, ending the Penguins’ chances of making the playoffs.

With one game remaining in the season, the Penguins had an 8-1-3 record, making them one of the strongest teams in the NHL in the closing weeks. What went wrong, and what needs to be fixed, in the last seasons of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang, to get the Penguins back into the postseason picture?

A lot of people think head coach Mike Sullivan ought to be fired. The Penguins have not made it to the postseason during his tenure they won’t have advanced past the first round of the playoffs since 2018.

On 93.7 the Fan Morning Show, Adam Crowley stated, “I think you got to move on.” Actually, I am aware that you must move on. Ever when Sidney Crosby returned to health in 2018, they have failed to win a postseason series.

With Crosby and Malkin expected to participate in every game this season, the Penguins are missing the playoffs for the second year in a row. Erik Karlsson and Letang will also participate in all 82 games.

With the current long run of failure, Jesse Marshall of the Athletic stated on Twitter that there are better solutions than Sullvain.

Sullivan is scheduled to begin a three-year contract extension at the start of the 2024–25 season. Even while it seems doubtful that he would be cut from the squad this summer, his seat will still grow hot.

Kyle Dubas, the general manager and president of the Penguins, is expected to have another hectic offseason. While coaching changes and on-ice adjustments are undoubtedly coming, Sullivan’s exit is not definite.

There will at least be some changes behind the bench because Todd Reriden and Mike Vellucci are nearing the conclusion of their contracts and probably won’t be coming back.
