SAD NEWS: Andy Reid broke down in tears upon learning that one of his star players was suffering greatly.

When Worthy and quarterback Patrick Mahomes were paired, supporters were thrilled about the possibility of a strong offense.

But the rookie’s early-season hamstring ailment kept him out of action, raising some questions.

Worthy had the injury during offseason workouts and OTAs in early May, which prevented him from participating in minicamp drills for over a month.

This kind of injury is especially worrisome for a sprinter like Worthy.

Thankfully, Andy Reid, the head coach of the Chiefs, just offered as training camp draws near, Worthy’s status has improved.

“Yeah, he should be able to [be ready for training camp],”Reid added.

“He’s improving, so we’ll keep treating him here. He will receive treatment, and we’ll watch to see how he recovers from it.”

Reid desires that Worthy establish a rapport with his teammates.
Reid is upbeat about Worthy’s condition and preparedness for training camp based on his remarks.

Reid did, however, also draw attention to the possible effects Worthy’s absence from offseason training may have on his team integration.

“Really, it’s getting that timing down with the new people,”Reid remarked.

The next question is, ‘What do the new people do well?’ Let us examine their capabilities. We weren’t able to accomplish much of that with Xavier because of the harm. But, you can kind of work some things in there and see what they look like if you bring Mecole [Hardman] back in and then you have Hollywood [Brown], which is two speedy guys.”

Although Worthy’s injury is not thought to be a long-term problem, Reid’s remarks suggest that it has hindered his ability to get along and build rapport with his new teammates.

Worthy’s record-breaking speed must be used into the Chiefs’ downfield passing game at this precise moment in order for it to be a viable offensive weapon in 2024.
