Joel Embiid is still dealing with the effects of his knee surgery, and as per…
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (AP) – Tuesday night, the 76ers defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 109-105. Joel Embiid gave Philadelphia the lead with four free throws in the last forty seconds of the game and finished with 24 points in his first game back after nine weeks of knee surgery.
In over 30 minutes, Embiid contributed seven assists and six rebounds, but more importantly, he instilled confidence in the Sixers that they can still win the season and go to the postseason with the MVP of the previous campaign starting for them.
Hall of Famer Allen Iverson complimented Embiid following the game.
Embiid remarked, “I thought I was pretty bad.” “I simply get it. After these events, I usually figure out how many points (30–40), or whatever it needed to win. Everything is a little different this time. Regaining a true sense of self-worth and self-assurance will require some time. My best contribution, as long as we win, is probably simply playing defense.
The Thunder, who trailed Denver by a half-game for the top slot in the Western Conference, were led by 22 points by Chet Holmgren. Oklahoma City and Minnesota are now tied.
With 7:27 remaining, the Sixers were behind by 11 points before going on an incredible run. Kelly Oubre Jr.’s three-pointer set off the comeback, which was completed by Embiid’s string of free throws. Embiid scored two points to give the team a 106-105 lead, then two more to make it 108-105. On that night, he made all 12 of his foul shots.
