If he is not fired, I will leave the Georgia Bulldogs head coach, as he has a misunderstanding with his star player.

I will step down as head coach of the Georgia Bulldogs if he is not sacked because of a disagreement with a key player.

Athens—KKirby Smart, the coach at Georgia, refuted the rumor that he and other coaches are seeking to quit collegiate football because they are upset. This includes Smart’s mentor, Nick Saban, whose retirement is being unjustly attributed to the shifting terrain, according to Smart.

“I believe that his retirement was influenced in part by the way he was portrayed in the media. Speaking in front of the Macon Touchdown Club on Monday night, Smart stated, “The man was in his 70s.”

After announcing his retirement in January, Saban, 72, raised concerns last week at a Congressional roundtable about athletes abusing the transfer portal to obtain additional compensation through name-image likeness. While not directly blaming the modifications for his departure, Saban did suggest they might have played a role.

Before taking over as Georgia’s head coach in 2016, Smart spent over ten years working under Nick Saban. In that time, he has won two national titles.

A story of college coaches attempting to leave emerged amid the changes in college athletics, along with annoyance over roster management and the timing of the transfer portal.
