By moving up to the 28th choice in the 2024 NFL Draft to choose Xavier Worthy, the Combine record holder in the 40-yard dash, the Kansas City Chiefs generated excitement throughout the league.

Andy Reid’s amazing commercial moment demonstrates his passion for cheeseburgers.
Worthy has not participated in the most recent trainings.
When Worthy and quarterback Patrick Mahomes were paired, supporters were thrilled about the possibility of a strong offense.

But the rookie’s early-season hamstring ailment kept him out of action, raising some questions.

Worthy had the injury during offseason workouts and OTAs in early May, which prevented him from participating in minicamp drills for over a month.

This kind of injury is especially worrisome for a sprinter like Worthy.

Thankfully, as training camp draws near, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid recently gave a good report on Worthy’s condition.

“Yeah, he should be able to [be ready for training camp],”Reid added.

“He’s improving, so we’ll keep treating him here. He will receive treatment, and we’ll watch to see how he recovers from it.”

Reid desires that Worthy establish a rapport with his teammates.
Reid is upbeat about Worthy’s condition and preparedness for training camp based on his remarks.

Reid did, however, also draw attention to the possible effects Worthy’s absence from offseason training may have on his team integration.

“Really, it’s getting that timing down with the new people,”Reid remarked.

The next question is, ‘What do the new people do well?’ Let us examine their capabilities. Now, with Xavier, his injury prevented us from doing a lot of stuff. But, you can kind of work some things in there and see what they look like if you bring Mecole [Hardman] back in and then you have Hollywood [Brown], which is two speedy guys.”

Although Worthy’s injury is not thought to be a long-term problem, Reid’s remarks suggest that it has hindered his ability to get along and build rapport with his new teammates.

Worthy’s record-breaking speed must be used into the Chiefs’ downfield passing game at this precise moment in order for it to be a viable offensive weapon in 2024.

Recently signed to a rookie contract, Worthy is expected to provide his explosive speed and dynamic profile to the Chiefs attack.

There is a fifth-year option included in his $13.79 million contract, which spans four years.

Now that all seven of Kansas City’s 2024 draft selections are signed, attention will turn to training camp, where Worthy can show off his skills.
