The American professional basketball team based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was known as the Seattle SuperSonics from 1967 to 2008; it played its home games at the Paycom Center.[1] The Thunder is owned by Professional Basketball Club LLC, with Sam Presti serving as general manager.
The team was founded in 1967 and relocated to Oklahoma City after the SuperSonics spent 41 seasons in Seattle, Washington.
Clay Bennett, the team’s 2006 owner, attempted to secure public funding for either a major renovation of the KeyArena in 2007 or a new arena in Seattle, but after failing to do so, he made the decision to relocate.
Team should be moved to Oklahoma City.[2] Seattle filed a lawsuit against Bennett’s organization to uphold the terms of the lease, which mandated the team’s presence until 2010. In July 2008, a settlement of $45 million was struck between the two parties to settle the team’s lease with KeyArena.[3][4] outside view of the Paycom Center Since 2008, the Oklahoma City Thunder have played at the Paycom Center.
