Javien Elliott, a defensive back for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, has announced his retirement from the NFL, according to 3DownNation.
The 30-year-old revealed the news on Thursday by sharing a highlight reel on Instagram with the following caption:
How wonderful it is to be alive, man. I debated returning this season, but ultimately decided against it, and by the time you read this, it’s too late. I enjoyed the views from the sixth floor, but nothing remained the same, and the dogs I met there had more energy.
Was a pleasure, and I’ll be grateful forever.
Elliott made 32 defensive tackles and three interceptions in 14 games for the Ticats in 2023. For the 2024 season, he was expected to earn $95,300 in hard money in addition to $3,000 in marketing and an additional Playtime plus performance incentives totaling $19,400.
