From the ABA’s Dallas Chaparrals to the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs, the team has seen a number of excellent players wear the silver and black outfit.
The Spurs have a winning tradition dating back 47 years, with 2,200 victories, 41 playoff appearances, and four titles. Many players had successful seasons in San Antonio, but some, such as George Gervin, David Robinson, and Tim Duncan, spent the majority, if not all, of their careers with the team.

George Johnson may not be a household name, but he was a world-class shot-blocker in his peak.
Johnson had only two seasons in San Antonio, but his 512 blocks rank sixth on the Spurs’ all-time list.
Johnson led the league in swatted shots both seasons, and he was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 1980-81.
John Beasley, a member of the Dallas Chaparrals, made three consecutive ABA All-Star games and was the MVP of the 1969 showcase.
He averaged a double-double for his first three ABA seasons and then 15.9 points and 9.2 rebounds in his fourth year.
He was also named to two All-ABA teams in 1967-68 and 1968-69.
Rich Jones was a good scorer for the Chaparrals and the ABA version of the Spurs over five full seasons, peaking at 22.3 points per game in 1972-73.
The University of Memphis product participated in two All-Star games and made five playoff appearances.
Jones is eighth on the club chart for rebounds (3,137) and minutes per game (35.0).
