FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas: On Thursday, Quincey McAdoo, a defensive back, declared he would be retiring from football due to medical reasons.
In May 2023, the native of Clarendon was involved in a rollover vehicle accident on Interstate 49 close to Chester. He received citations for both driving without a license and changing lanes improperly during the collision. Due to a neck injury, he missed time in the hospital and was unable to participate in the sophomore campaign.
McAdoo said in a statement shared on social media, “I’m at a loss for words on how blessed I am to become a part of something so special.”
According to rumors that circulated earlier this year, McAdoo would be eligible for medical hardship pay, which would allow him to keep his scholarship without participating in games or counting against Arkansas’ 85-man cap. McDonald’s wrote on social media, denying the reports, “Counting me out before the doctors say is crazy.”
In 2022, McAdoo played wide receiver in his rookie campaign. After switching to defensive back in the middle of the season, he started four games, had four pass breaks, and was selected to the SEC all-freshman team.
