Sad news: top key player Nicky Korda has been.

Jan Dowling is about to begin her twelfth season as the head coach of the University of Michigan women’s golf team. She has taken the Wolverine program from being a top Big Ten program to a consistent competitor and the best women’s collegiate golf program in the country.

In the fall of 2013, Dowling was appointed as the fifth women’s golf coach in the history of the University of Michigan. Her winning streak has enabled the Maize and Blue to make four of the program’s five trips to the NCAA Finals. With seven trips to the NCAA Finals, she has received 14 NCAA invitations in her eighteen years on the fairways, including invitations from Kent State (2), Duke (1), Florida (3), Tennessee (1), and Michigan (7).

In her eleven years at Michigan, Dowling has received seven invitations to the NCAA postseason, including one invitee (Ashley Lau, 2019) and six team regional berths (2016, ’17, ’21, ’22, ’23, ’24). The Wolverines have made it to the NCAA Finals in each of their six team visits.

In 2017, they tied for 16th place, which was the program’s best NCAA finish. In addition, in 2016 and in 2021 and 2022, they finished in a tie for 18th place. The Dowling’s Wolverines have made two consecutive journeys to the United States, first at the Eugene Country Club in 2016 and Rich Harvest Farms in 2017, and then again at the Grayhawk Golf Club in 2021 and 2022.
