The Indiana Fevers have received yet another bad set of news: their head coach broke down in tears after four of his key players decided to end their lucrative contracts.

On Wednesday in Indianapolis, the Indiana Fever defeated the Washington Mystics 88-81 with to a double-double from Caitlin Clark, giving them their third consecutive victory.

Clark recorded his second double-double of the year with 18 points, a career-high 12 rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Clark was a standout player at Iowa.

With a combined team-high 22 points, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell shot an incredibly effective 72.7% from the field.

The Fever have won four straight games at home for the first time since 2015.

Regarding the run, Clark told NBA TV, “It’s huge.” Everyone gains confidence when victories are stacked. Since we’re a young group, I believe we’re just beginning to realize our abilities and potential. I think Kelsey Mitchell has been fantastic and Aliyah has been incredible.

It’s been enjoyable and everyone has contributed in the ways that they needed to. These have been victories for the team. We haven’t had a single player take up the entire load for us, and I believe that makes it very difficult for opposing teams to stop us.

At the start of the fourth quarter, the Fever led by nine points, but the Mystics swiftly closed the gap to two points with a 9-2 run. However, the Fever answered with seven straight points to retake the advantage to nine points and control the game in the closing minutes.

About the team’s tenacity, Clark told NBA TV, “We always found a way to respond whenever they went on a run.” “We managed to finish the fourth quarter, though I believe we could have done so with a stronger start.

“We had more difficulty in the second quarter; they made a few three-pointers. In general, I believed that we simply found a way to prevail, chipped away, and prevented them from winning in the end.

The Mystics, with a 2-13 record, are the worst in the WNBA. Ariel Atkins scored a game-high 27 points for the team.

The Fever and Clark will now embark on a five-game road journey, starting on Friday against the Atlanta Dream.
