Good news:The all time player in Mississippi state football has officially announced his marriage to the all time player in Sooners softball.
STARKVILLE – During Mississippi State’s season-opening football game against Memphis on Saturday, tensions were high due to a two-plus hour lightning delay.
The majority of the uncertainty revolved around when the Bulldogs and Tigers would be able to restart their game and play the final three quarters.
But quarterback Chance Lovertich might have been the most frightened man in Davis Wade Stadium.
Lovertich had planned an elaborate postgame wedding proposal for his longterm fiancée, Macey Abraham, and invited a large number of friends and family to the game to see the long-awaited moment.
“I was really nervous when the lightning delays were happening because I didn’t know when the game was going to end,” she added.
“She texted me (in the locker room), indicating she was ready to go. That was the one thing that stressed me up.”
Lovertich and his Gridiron Club followers were able to persuade Abraham to stay after the game, which ended about midnight, by posing as photographers on the field.
“Leading up to it, I’d been telling her that it was my last year to play and that we needed to take some good pictures on the field since we didn’t take any last year,” Lovertich recalls.
