Unstoppable: The Golden State Warriors’ owner wants to sell the team…

Joe Lacob, the owner of the Golden State Warriors, has had a busy week since he acquired the new WNBA team that will reside in the Bay Area. Even after making that latest acquisition, Lacob may be looking to buy another sports team.

Jacob said that if Oakland Athletics owner John Fisher decided to sell, he would be interested in purchasing the club during the press conference for the announcement of the Bay Area WNBA team.

“We’ve over the years been obviously very interested,” Lacob stated. “You all know that I’ve said it, and if for whatever reason [Fisher] decided it wasn’t going to work, sure, we might be interested.”

Although there have been long-standing rumors that the Athletics would relocate to Las Vegas, the move is not yet official. This means that if Lacob were to buy the franchise, he might decide to maintain it in the Bay Area.

“You have to have someone who wants to sell something to be interested in buying it,” Lacob stated. He clarified that he wasn’t “throwing my hat in the ring,” but rather that he was only highlighting his long-standing support for the squad.

A formal vote on the change is anticipated to occur in November, according to statements made by MLB commissioner Rob Manfred. The relocation committee of the league was supposed to convene last week to go over further specifics of the team’s relocation to Las Vegas. CEOs of the Philadelphia Phillies and Kansas City Royals, John Sherman and John Middleton, are on the relocation committee.
