Unfortunately, the all time player in Los Angeles Clippers Kawhi officially decided to terminate his contract due to…
The Clippers announced on Wednesday that they and star wing Kawhi Leonard had reached an agreement to extend his contract.
Since July, Leonard has been qualified for extensions, and he had until June 30 to sign one. Leonard had the option to exercise his $48 million player option for 2024–2025 and become a free agent following this season. He chose to sign with the Clippers as a free agent in 2019 and then again in 2021 because he wanted to stay in his home state of Southern California. He will lead the team’s roster when the team’s new Inglewood arena, Intuit Dome, opens for business the following season.
For Leonard to start an extension that is supposedly worth $153 million over three years, he must decline that player option.
Leonard scored 29 points in the first few hours following the contract’s signing as the Clippers gradually woke up to defeat the fading Toronto Raptors, 126-120, at Crypto.com Arena, to move to 24-13.
In a statement, team president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank said, “We’re thrilled to continue our relationship with Kawhi.” “He is an excellent player, a fantastic collaborator, and a diligent worker who prioritizes success and knows how to win.” He improved our franchise as soon as he got here. We are happy that Kawhi decided to join the Clippers five years ago and look forward to continuing to develop with him.
