The Warriors have made Andrew Webster’s job as head coach last until the end of the 2028 season.
Webster had a great first year and led the team to the NRL preliminary final. Soon after, he and the club started talking about extending his contract, which expired at the end of the 2025 season.
Cameron George, the CEO of the Warriors, said that signing Webster for a long time was important for the club’s future success.
George said, “We’re starting a big investment and looking at our paths and growth over the long term.”
“It’s very important that that approach fits with having a stable head coach.”Andrew hasshown that he’s a good fit for our football club in many ways. As we saw in his first year, he has the skills to become a great coach for our club. With more time and plans for the future, he will certainly do that.
“Being stable leads to success, and we think Andrew is the right fit for us as a coach.” Both sides wanted to show they were committed to the future, which is great for Warriors fans, sponsors, and young players who want to join the team.
In August, Webster told Stuffhe wanted to coach the Warriors for as long as possible and build a dynasty.
He said in August, “My goal is to be here forever.”
“I want to see the next generation come through, and I want to coach them. I want to be here like Wayne Bennett was at the Broncos, Craig Bellamy is at the Storm, Trent Robinson at the Roosters and Ivan [Cleary] now in Penrith.
“I don’t want to leave. There are so many reasons for that. I feel like this place suits me and I suit this place.”
