Hannah Stuelke may be the most crucial factor determining the Hawkeyes’ level of success this season. Stuelke is a breakout star in waiting, even though we already know how great Caitlin Clark is and that Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall both bring back excellent starting experiences.

The 6-foot-2 forward had a lot of promise last season and was given the responsibility of being a spark off the bench. She only played an average of 13 minutes per game, but she managed to average 6.5 points and almost four rebounds. Per-40-minute stats aren’t always reliable, but in the few minutes Stuelke played in the previous season, she made an impression.

Early in the preseason, that potential has already been demonstrated as the Hawkeyes defeated Clarke with 27 points. Yes, that is against Clarke, but it only strengthens her argument.

She has athleticism on the court that no other team member can match. Not to mention how enormous she is! She is immediately a contender to replace Caitlin Clark and Monika Czinano in the two-woman game.

But in addition, she possesses the athleticism to be more than just a post player. Her 3-point shot appears to be improving, if reports from the offseason are to be trusted. Hannah Stuelke has a lot to be enthusiastic about.

Considered the ninth-ranked forward and 45th best player overall in the 2022 recruiting class, this four-star recruit by ESPN is highly sought after.
