Another set of unfortunate news has hit the steelers nation team: their head coach shed tears as four of his star players made the decision to terminate their huge contracts.

Vince Williams, an inside linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, tweeted something cryptic on Monday night. It said, “I can hear the streets calling.”

Williams appears to have been aware of the Steelers’ intention to cut him off, as the team made the announcement on Steelers.com on Tuesday afternoon

The 31-year-old Williams has spent his whole professional career as a Steeler. 2013 saw him selected by the team in the sixth round (at pick No. 206 overall).

The former Florida State standout played in 121 games with 69 starts over the course of eight seasons in Pittsburgh. He totaled 479 tackles (333 solo), 50 tackles for loss, two interceptions, and six fumble recoveries. Throughout his career, he has accounted for 45 quarterback hits and 20.5 sacks, demonstrating his skill as a blitzer.

Interestingly, Williams’ inability to play led to his release. In 2020, he started 14 games, made 70 tackles (47 solo), had three sacks, 14 tackles for loss, four quarterback hits, and two fumble recoveries. He was still very effective.

However, in order to free up cap space for younger players like offensive tackle Zach Banner and cornerback Cameron Sutton, who the team re-signed in the previous day, the Steelers had to cut payroll.
