Amazing passing: fans are currently extremely saddened by his passing. Port Adelaide was a legendary player.
After a brief illness, Port Adelaide icon Geof Motley passed away at the age of 88.
A member of the Australian Football Hall of Fame, Motley was a part of every one of the Magpies’ six consecutive SANFL flags from 1954 to 1959, the final year he was both the team’s captain and coach.
In the 1960s, he guided the team to three more premierships.
David Koch, the chairman of Port Adelaide, paid homage to Motley on Tuesday after his passing.
Koch remarked, “Georf was raised in the Port Adelaide district and only knew the Port Adelaide Football Club.”
It was his life, his world.
His only goal was to represent Port Adelaide, and he succeeded admirably in doing so.
Over the course of more than 150 years, our club has produced several champions as well as a few legends.
“Geof Motley is a legend of our club, up there with Russell Ebert, Bob Quinn, and John Cahill, all greats from Port Adelaide.”
