“On behalf of everyone at the football club, it is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that we mourn the passing of our colleague and friend, David Gold,” co-chairman Sullivan added in his commentary.Among all our collaborative endeavors, none brought us greater satisfaction and pleasure than the day we assumed control of West Ham United, our Club, in January 2010. David had a long history with the Hammers, having grown up on Green Street across from the Boleyn Ground and having played junior football for the Club. We are all deeply saddened by his demise, since he always sought what was best for West Ham United.
“I am extremely sad to hear this news and, on behalf of all of the players and my staff at the training ground, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to David Gold’s family at this very difficult time,” said current first team manager David Moyes.Mr. Gold was a frequent visitor to Rush Green and a constant source of inspiration and support for the players and me. He was obviously a true supporter at heart, with an authentic and heartfelt passion for the Club. He had a keen interest in the individuals operating behind the scenes and was always willing to lend a hand. He will be sorely missed.
