I cant believe he passed way , Tampa Buccaneers world class player…
TAMPA, Florida: The majority of Tampa Bay Buccaneers supporters anticipated a rebuilding year and might have begun considering the NFL Draft when they looked at the salary cap scenario before the 2023 season.
The majority of the Bucs’ dead cap space this season—more than $81 million—comes from the former deal of Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady. The Bucs have dead money on more than a third of their cap this season with a total cap of $223 million and change.
That would be sufficient to put a team into tank mode for most teams, but not the 2023 Buccaneers.
With so much dead cap space, hitting on a free agent deal and draft picks was imperative. The Bucs succeeded in doing so.
A quarterback was needed by the Bucs to enter the post-Brady huddle. After surveying the league, Tampa decided to sign former first overall pick Baker Mayfield to a one-year deal.
Before joining the Bucs roster to begin the season, he had been traded to several other clubs the previous season. Mayfield had career highs in passing yards (4,044), touchdowns (28), and completion percentage (64.3) during the regular season.
All of that Mayfield accomplished for the Bucs at a cost of just $1.7 million over the salary cap.
In addition to Mayfield’s output, the Bucs’ draft selections of YaYa Diaby and Calijah Kancey both contributed significantly to the defense and helped the club once more set the tone.
Along with important players like Mike Evans, Devin White, Shaq Barrett, Chris Godwin, and Vita Vea, the Bucs brought home another NFC South division title and a fourth consecutive postseason trip.
Irrespective of the outcome in the postseason, the Bucs have greatly surpassed predictions. However, there will be additional salary cap problems coming up in the upcoming season.
In addition to re-signing left tackle Tristan Wirfs, the Bucs must make a significant choice about wide receiver Mike Evans. Since his rookie season, he has emerged as one of the NFL’s top receivers; but, before to the season, the team was unable to reach a contract agreement with him.
In addition, the team will make decisions about quarterback Baker Mayfield and linebackers Devin White and Lavonte David.
