After having his best season to date, Carter is back for his third season with the Redblacks. With twelve sacks in 2023, Carter tied for second place in the CFL and led the team in sacks. Over the course of the 18 games, he added two forced fumbles and 31 defensive tackles. He was chosen as a CFL East All-Star. In 2022, Carter made 10 defensive tackles and two sacks in his CFL debut.
Mauldin, who is starting his third season with Ottawa, is a seasoned player in the CFL. With 17 games played, he finished the previous season with 29 defensive tackles, 5 sacks, and 1 forced fumble.
His best campaign occurred in 2022, when he recorded 17 sacks and 43 receptions and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player.
In the 2021 CFL Global Draft, the Redblacks selected Vrede in the second round. Before suffering an injury that ended his season, he participated in four games last season, starting two of them and totaling 20 tackles. The native of the Netherlands has made 42 total tackles in 30 games during his playing career in Ottawa.
