The Indianapolis Colts require security assistance. One of the NFL’s top players at the position, Justin Simmons, is a free agent at the moment. Against that backdrop, the Simmons-to-Indy scenario is highly logical.

Remarkably, Simmons is still up for grabs. You may have assumed he had already signed with a different team after the Denver Broncos released him in March. However, it doesn’t seem to have happened yet. Professional bowler Justin Simmons is incredibly talented and could provide an instant improvement to the Colts secondary.

Justin Simmons had an incredible eight-year career in Denver after the Broncos selected him in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, while he was still playing college football at Boston College. In addition to being selected to the Associated Press All-Pro second team four times, Simmons was named to the Pro Bowl twice. Additionally, three times he was listed in the NFL Top 100. He received three nominations for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award as well.

Justin Simmons had some outstanding performances during his time with the Broncos. He came up with game-winning steals in games against the Oakland (now Las Vegas) Raiders in 2017, the Miami Dolphins in 2020 and the Washington Commanders in the 2021 season. Perhaps his most memorable performance came in 2016 when he blocked an extra point in a game against New Orleans Saints. Fellow safety Will Parks eventually gave it up as Denver won the game.

Simmons is the only player in the league to record at least three interceptions in each of the last six seasons. He tied for the NFL lead in interceptions during the 2022 season.

2023 was a Pro Bowl campaign for Simmons. The Florida native recorded 70 tackles, three interceptions, eight passes defended, two forced fumbles and a sack.
