Ice Cube’s BIG3 league has extended a “historic” $5 million deal to a key player of the Iowa women’s basketball team.

Caitlin Clark, the star player from Iowa, is being offered $5 million to play in the BIG3 3-on-3 basketball league.

“We meant for the offer to stay confidential as Caitlin Clark competes for the title,” Big3 founder Ice Cube wrote on X on Wednesday. But I won’t dispute the information that is currently public: Caitlin Clark received a historic offer from BIG3. Why wouldn’t we do that? A multigenerational athlete, Caitlin has the potential to excel in the BIG3.

The seventh season of the league, which is currently an all-male circuit, will begin on June 15th, according to a recent announcement from The BIG3.

Ice Cube stated in a string of follow-up posts that Clark still has a chance to play WNBA basketball and pave the way for women in sports.

When we appointed Nancy Lieberman as the first female coach of a men’s professional team and she won the championship in her first season, the doubters scoffed. Then in year two, Lisa Leslie emerged victorious. Caitlin Clark can make history and shatter even more barriers for female athletes with our offer.

“It should not be necessary for American women athletes to play in frequently depressing and questionable foreign nations during their off-season in order to make ends meet. And at a time when American professional sports leagues are experiencing growth, they ought to have more than one professional option in the country.
