I have personally witnessed the ardor that Hornets supporters have for this team, and Charlotte is a fantastic city. I am eager to return to the city and begin working with our players.”
From 2013 to 2018, the 60-year-old Clifford coached the Hornets for five seasons, amassing a 196-214 record while working with a club that featured Kemba Walker.

After that, Clifford led the Orlando Magic from 2018 to 21, helping them make it to the postseason twice. He worked as a coaching consultant for the Brooklyn Nets for the previous season.
Clifford’s record in eight seasons as an NBA coach is 292-345 overall.
